Sean Rio Flynn in his first movie as an adult!

14 Jan

I found this news and I thought I post it for all to know!

Sean Flynn – IN LIKE FLYNN: “RETURN OF THE KILLER SHREWS'

CASTS A NEW GENERATION OF HOLLYWOOD ROYALTY

Coal Train Productions and Generic Filmgroup announced today that former
Teen Idol SEAN FLYNN, fresh from his long-running role as Chase on
Nickelodeon's “Zoey 101,” will be co-starring in his first adult role
in “Return of the Killer Shrews.” Flynn's role as Derek will utilize
his comedic skills first honed on the popular Teen TV series and provide added
thrills to his large TV fan base. “Return of the Killer Shrews,” set
on a mysterious island in the gulf of Mexico, places Flynn in a modern-day
horror setting, but with a touch of blood-drenched comic mayhem ala “Shawn
of the Dead” and the slightest flavor of retro Tiki exotica ala the great
Drive-in horror flicks of the 1950s and 1960s. And Flynn even gets a chance to
use his considerable charm, like his famous Grandfather, ERROL FLYNN.

“Return of the Killer Shrews” goes before the cameras in May, with
release scheduled for next year. — This should be 2012 unless somebody has better information than me?

This is the link to the website I found and Sean is speaking in a video contained on this website. Interesting information I thought I share. I wish him all the luck in world to make it big like his grandfather!

Errol’s fourth home! 1919

07 Jan

In mid 1919 Theodor Flynn moved his expecting wife and 10 year old Errol from Holebrook Place to the Imperial Hotel located on Collins Street.
As quoted by Bob Casey, a nurse named Elsie Hinds felt sorry for Errol when he was left alone. She often took him to the wharves to see the ships in port, flying the flags of all nations of the world.
Don Norman wrote, “Elsie remembered Errol standing politely and removing his cap when she stopped to speak with one of her friends.”  A maid at the hotel remembered giving Errol money so he could go to the cinema.
It is stated in several publications that Errol had no spending money, was a neglected child but had very good manners. One could take a good guess and see that his pranks most likely have been fueled by being a neglected and abused child and therefore became his way of retaliation.
Another picture of the hotel in the comment section.

“Tiger Lil”

02 Jan

As Rachel has not posted a quiz question yet I'll give it a try!

We all know that Errol called Lili Damita “Tiger Lil” – right!

Did Errol invented the name?
Or did something just triggered a memory?
Was there another “Tiger Lil” known to Errol?
If so, who was she?

Just so many Lily's in Errol's life!
Good guessing!

Errol's Grave is visited by a friend of mine!

25 Dec
An email I received today from someone in Los Angeles who I have known with great affection for several years.
Suzy refers to me as Mr. DeWitt despite our years of friendship when she adds my name to photos! She has been a wonderful pen-pal…

She writes:

We were visiting my parents' graves today. Afterwards we visited Errol Flynn's.

His grave looked deserted when I got there, no Christmas wreaths, no poinsettias.
I laid today's newspaper on his grave so you would know the pictures were freshly taken from today
by me. I put 3 tiny cheesy decorations on his grave, that is all I had with me…

Suzy is one of my dearest friends…

Errol Flynn Titchfield Hotel Swimming Pool 'tile' on ebay!

08 Dec

Dennis Mullen, our “Man in Jamaica” has a rare item up for auction on ebay: a genuine piece of tile from Errol Flynn's famed Titchfield Hotel pool! This is one of three pools at the old hotel ruins – now on private property used mainly by the Jamaican Army. It is a guarded area so not easily accessed and certainly not without permission! But Dennis enjoyed a two hour tour and was invited back again to have have a rum and coke at the swim up bar, too! Like Flynn, Dennis Mullen has a bit of charm going for him, to say the least!

 With
the music of the fabulous “Fab Five” setting the tone for the evening of

building the women’s dormitory for the Portland Homeless Shelter and
Rehabilitation Centre.

itself at the end of an evening – “The dance floor has remained full for the
entire evening.”

OUR
PATRONS FOR THE EVENING:

THIRD
ANNUAL BALL:

The
Errol Flynn Ball is the annual signature event of the marina bearing his
name.  Launched in 2009 on the 100th
anniversary of Flynn’s birth in 1909, the principal goal each year is to
benefit a worthy Portland charity

SOMETHING
NEW THIS YEAR:

Errol
Flynn was noted for his pencil thin mustache which was actually immortalized in
the Jimmy Buffet song a few years ago.
Men attending the ball are encouraged to grow a similar mustache and
take home a prize for the one most closely resembling Flynn’s.  It is noted that most men can grow one in
about a week to 10 days.
