Greetings Dave,
My name is Russell Ries Jr. from Nashville, TN. I collect old photographs & WWII-related items. I recently purchased an entire collection of photos taken by one soldier during WWII. Apparently the guy was with the Army Corps of Engineers and was stationed in some place cold where all they did was build roads. So most of the photos aren’t really all that interesting.
However, within the stack I did find this photo of a beautiful couple:

Hi David;
On this photo is Olivia de Havilland not Martha Driscoll and it is in March 1944.
Errol was there December 4, 1943 with Martha, most likely more days than just the 4th, So Errol’s tour was beginning of December 1943.

Yes, Tina, I didn’t identify this photo as being Martha, did I? I recognized Olivia immediately, and was able to tell Russel this was Olivia and not Martha as he was thinking, when he sent me the photo … I can see how you thought I was making a mistake, though! I assumed we all would know the difference here without titling the picture! :)

Speaking of Errol and Martha, the USO tour to Alaska, from which this photo originates, was in December of 1943.
