Great catch, Birdofprey Tim. So here it is, the lost footage shown last in Courmayeur of 1997 in front of Cardiff, Lee, Pat Wymore and maestro of arms Renzo Musumeci Greco, son of Errol`s last fencing instructor. We saw a photo of that evening before (www.theerrolflynnblog.com…)

Thanks Heinz for unearthing this rare glimpse into William Tell. Tim is right this could have been a first-rate and the footage I saw at UCLA showed that Jack Cardiff was making it right, essentially Robin Hood with a crossbow, with the picture postcard Alps instead of Sherwood Forest! I also loved the British series William Tell which only had a short run! Ralph Schiller

Just a little side note to this unflynnished masterpiece, Crossbow Tim and Rushstreet Ralph. I managed to talk to Signora Antonella too about Tell and she told me the whole cast had big expectations, because they were aware, more so when The Robe came to the cinemas and was a big success, that they would make film history If Errol only found the necessary financial means to pull through. The apple grew smaller each day though..,
