Anton Walbrook? His real name was Adolf Wohlbruck. I have only ever seen him in one movie -The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp.
Yes, you are absolutely right, Maria! On both counts. But you must see his other films, some of which have become classics, such as ‘The Red Shoes’ (1948, and Powell and Pressburger again) and ‘The Queen of Spades’ (1949.)
PW; I agree. Everyone has seen ‘The Red Shoes’ but few have seen the eerie and frightening ‘Queen Of Spades’ based on Pushkin’s classic Russian fable. It matches anything by Edgar Allan Poe and the film is a gem. thanks. Ralph Schiller
