True color of Errol Flynn’s Hair and Eyes

12 Feb

It was medium brown naturally with reddish-gold tints. If at times it looked lighter, it was because he had been out in the sun by his pool. His eyes were definitely not blue, as often shown in colored photos. They were brown with gold flecks in them. One of the tragedies for me, who knew him well and once was his house guest for two months, was the leaden quality that his eyes eventually took on after the increased drug problems. It seemed as if all the life and sparkling impudence left them.

Who was John & Errol’s Co-Co-Star?

12 Feb

Dear Audience:

What highly regarded actress co-starred with both The Profile & The Baron?

(Another) Clue: JB & EF are not comparing their performances with her in this photo:

P.S. She was in one of Barrymore’s greatest films, but not in one of Errol’s.

MGM’s 25th Anniversary 1949!

10 Feb

1949, MGM’S 25th Anniversary dinner featuring dozens of the studio’s major stars, including Clark Gable, Errol Flynn, Greer Garson, and many others. You see Errol misplaced in line as the stars are announced and his name is never called so he simply enters, anyway … And sitting having a meal next to Greer Garson. Several stars are unaware of a passing camera, and Gable has some kind of hilarious complaint to make but there is only one sound portion in this video.

Case of the curious blog II

10 Feb

hmm

Dear fellow Flynn fans,

I summon you to a quizzical sequel of yesteryear`s:

Case of the curious blog

Who knows more of these announced, bounced & trounced film projects of Errol?

Dragonfly- our Hollywood hero vesting the uniform of an Air Force officer and gentleman.

The man who cried- an epic  4 hours lenghty follow up film to “Hello God” with director William Marshall about the perfect murder.

Escape from Elba- planned as his last film under the guidance of producer buddie Barry J. Mahon.

Ivanhoe- was Errol actually supposed to play the Black Knight or would he appear opposed to Robert Taylor in his second (cameo) outing as Robin Hood?

Enjoy,

“Gallant, Trash-Talking, Caricature of Errol Flynn”

10 Feb

Master Animator Hayao Miyazake’s classic anime caricature of Errol Flynn on Blu-Ray, with a nod to the great Glenn Curtiss. Voice by Carl Elwes.

“They share a jaw line .. his buccaneering derring-do, willingness to fight, and overall demeanor combined with romantic ardor.”

But Beautiful….

09 Feb

I was so happy to see that Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga won a grammy award  last night with their beautiful duet album.  One of the songs on the CD is “But Beautiful” written (as the story goes) by Jimmy Van Heusen as an expression of his affection for Nora Eddington.    Sigh.
