Well, I’ve heard experts predict that Errol’s Van Gogh is expected to be sold by Sotheby’s later today at between 9 snd 13 million dollars today. Being that this is not only a Van Gogh , but nERROL FLYNN’s VAN GOGH!, I believe this estimate is far too low!
Experts also predict that “red art”, i.e. art predominated with red coloring will garner the big bids. Why? … Because Chinese buyers have the big money, and favor red art. That really gives me the blues.
Even so, I think someone with bith brains AND deep pockets out there will put together that an Errol Flynn Van Gogh is a greater treasure than a red something else. If not, perhaps someone from Shanghai will note that there are some pretty cool – I mean hot – red brushstrokes in the flames of the “Man is at Sea” fire.
Having faith in mankind and the Western world, I will hope & predict that Errol’s Van Gogh will gogh for approximately double the estimates mentioned, from 16 to 17 million dollars, up.
I wonder if Errol ever saw this quote if Van Gogh’s. Somehow I think he probably did. It seems apropos to Errol’s life:
Will be interesting to see what it goes for! Imagine this painting sitting on Flynn’s wall with no special security and a simple front door lock, or window, only standing between it and would be thieves! Oh, yeah, and Errol Flynn! :-)
By the way, anyone out there living near Seattle who might want to get their own Errol Flynn Painting, may want to contact Errol Flynn Painting in Lake Stevens, Snohomish County. I came across them researching this morning. Maybe you can get a Sea Hawk Superbowl victory special!
P.S. I believe a most distinguished Errol Flynn scholar hails from Snohomish County – beginning his training in the Errol Flynn arts there as a very young man.
As good as these articles are, they would have been even better had they documented the value Errol Flynn’s strong connection/previous ownership of the painting obviously had on its value and attraction at auction.
Embarrassed to admit that my main interest in Van Gogh’s “Man is at Sea” is that it once belonged to Errol Flynn.
Is there a better reason?
hee hee,I was thinking the same thing.
Who is this Van Gogh fellow anyhow? Were Errol and Van friends or something? .. And why the white glove treatment?

Anyone want to venture a guess for how much Errol’s Van Gogh is going to go???
