A satirical and fictionalized look at the early days of Errol Flynn, this is a true throwback. In another time, the film would have been a high profile studio release, not relegated to the status of barely released indie fare. That takes nothing away from the quality of the picture. Variety was rather charmed:

Russell Mulcahy’s seriocomic imagining of Errol Flynn’s pre-stardom adventures is hugely satisfying old-fashioned fun.

Anyone curious about Flynn likely will have a bit of fun with this romp.

That was the worse portrayal I have ever seen of Errol Flynn,All the characters were miscasts including Errol who’s accent was far from accurate and looked little like him.The story line was complete fabrication.Making him look like a wimp at times Acting and dialogue not very impressive.I’d give this film 1 out of 10.I’d much rather read the book again.(flynn originally wanted to use that title but was talked out of it by Conrad.
