Is there a possibility that anybody of our members could identify these pair of Errol's trousers? Western Costume Co. Hollywood does not provide a service of identification, which is a great pity, but I thought I'll give it a try with all of you – maybe somebody has a good idea? Thank you in advance for your help!

There is no link – an acquaintance of mine purchased it on e-Bay, apparently a year ago or so and would love to know a little more about it. What movie – year – etc. I have no idea how to research that on the Internet, but it sure would greatly interest me too.

I can't remember or imagine that he was wearing such light / bright coloured pants in any film. I looked through my pictures to get a hint, but nothing… This colour is so untypical of him…
Maybe Robert would know? Would be great if he knew as he has so many valuable answers!
Hi Tina, Interesting item that your friend purchased on ebay. I would think there has to be some provenance about such an item. At least for what occasion he wore it etc. One should not buy such items without some proof, I know the label says it all, but a serious collector wants to know the “thread through the needle”. Buying and selling memorabilia myself, my discerning clientele need to know a lot before they go ahead and rightly so. And I do too for that matter.
I remember on EBAY last year some flying trousers, made of heavy leather etc. went for about USD 800, I thought that was damn cheap at that price, with full evidence that it came from the studio wardrobe department for the use of the film “Dive Bomber”. I missed it by an hour bidding on it!! Just my luck.

I suppose we all live and learn, although my friend has a certificate of authenticity, but no details of in what movie he was wearing them. I can't find nothing amongst my pictures. My friend says that the trousers definitely look worn and Errol's name and the number 4 is in it, but what does it mean… yes – the good old but….and on top is wasn't cheap either.
In reviewing all the films and TV where these pants might have been used, the best I can determine is that they may have appeared in certain scenes from “Santa Fe Trail”. Keep in mind that, because the film was shot in B&W, there was no need for the color of the wardrobe to be authentic; only the correct value (light/dark) was necessary. I've attached pics to illustrate my opinion.

Looks good, Robert, thanks again for another piece of great sleuthing! Do you think the crease was added over the years because of it being stored in that position? As there is none in the pictures, but in the trousers now… And the “stripe”(?) on the side looks a bit broader on the actual item…
I can't really take much credit for this since I'm only guessing about which film these pants might have appeared in.
It's a good guess, I think, except that the two things I mentioned do not fit exactly, but maybe the way it was stored over the year is an explanation for the crease.
