In this sentiment, I thought I give you
real treat today and share this very rare picture with you, which I have for a
long time!
Please observe – he has only three fingers
of his left hand on the rail – the thumb and the little finger are not touching
the rail – he is at least 6” to 8” above the rail – the rail is 4’6” – he hold
a cigarette in his right hand, which is up in the air and his grin beats all
odds!
Can anyone beat a hurdle like this?

Amazing picture!
Hi Patti,
It sure is amazing – he makes it look so easy!
Full of vigor and elan!
This is a great photo! I wonder if this is aboard the Queen Mary? I don't have my QM pics handy but his age looks right. The lifeboats in the backround look right for the QM. I will have to post an account of my trip to the QM and the pics I took that matched where Errol stood from the Fergerl boo. One of my future posting ideas!
Please do, would like to see it!
Hi David;
I am glad you like it too. I am looking forward to your story!
Take care!
Hi Kathleen;
You are right! It is an outstanding picture, it shows his temperament. What ever he did, he did with an unsurpassable style!
I am glad you like the picture too.
The picture is lost on this old post of January 2010. So here it is again! Enjoy the graceful, fabulous athlete Errol was!

Thanks so much, Tina! Yes we lost a fair amount of information in the transfer to WordPress. We are lucky to have not lost avgood deal more. Many links and attacjhments were destroyed in the process …
Hi David;
Thanks for your reply! Just wanted to let you know that the “Reply” button on the article “Flynn’s Champions” is missing.
Also, we maybe all should try to get Gemma back?
My thoughts too. I was looking for a spot to ask Gemma to return so I will use this one. Gemma, your input is exactly what we need on the blog. You mentioned that you had European documentation – I would love to see that! Sometimes a topic may not seem to be relevant (i.e the Champions) at the time, but I think we often do find interesting topics can be derived from same. Maybe I would have looked into why these champions were named for Errol, how far back is the lineage, would he have been involved in the breed. I posted the link to the Ridgeback newsletter and thought I would delve into the article mentioned – but I was not successful. All these little bits and pieces come together to add another facet to Errol’s interests. There is only so much information out there – sometimes I think we have exhausted ourselves -so maybe we post something a bit “off” -but occasionally it starts our conversations over again -and who knows what it uncovers. I am uncomfortable when we have disagreements among ourselves because it wastes energy and time. But I also understand why this happens (I have 6 older siblings!). It does not mean you take abuse from anyone either – nobody knows it all! David is correct when he says just don’t comment on something that does not interest you. We have had members leave the blog and I miss their input. The photo of Ida, Rory and Deidre was very touching -I had never seen it before. Obviously Ida was a great family friend – how nice that Rory and Deidre had that. Ida probably had lots of stories to tell!
Well said, Maria!
Thank you David.
Hi Maria;
Thank you for your help in getting Gemma back!
I did write an email to her and sincerely hope she will reconsider and come back!
The unpleasantness sometimes demonstrated have to stop! On this blog we are all Errol’s fans in the quest to keep his memory alive with authentic documentations of his life and adventures.
And to overcome some hurdles here is a present, a very rare photo of the HURDLE MAN HIMSELF !!!

Love it Tina!
Nicely said, Tina! I’ve never seen this photo! What is it from?
Fours a Crowd?
Hi Maria and David:
I think Maria is right but it is not in the movie.
It must be a shot they cut out, that is if it is from “Four’s a Crowd”, but I am quite sure, a kind of gut feeling.
I just love his hurdling pictures they show so well what fantastic spirit he had. i have never seen pictures of other actors hurdling like that but maybe I am wrong, for me he is just the most fantastic man ever.
Pity that Robert is not here to tell us the details of it, I am sure he would know.
Enjoy this indeed very rare picture!
Yes, Gemma. I wholeheartedly agree. We’d all love to see your documentation.
Yes, comments were closed on that thread, Tina.
