Flynn-tastic. And Stan even has a mustache. All the great comic books heroes and villains are inspired by movies but it is amazing how many Flynn inspired.
I found this image on line -Robin Hood Flour -would love to find out more about how the image was selected.
The examples above are tremendous -If only Errol had trademarked his face -he could have made millions!
It was rumored that Robin Hood flour was owned by Flynn. You did not see merchandizing of Flynn’s face and name, many products, etc., because Pat Wymore put a tight lid on those things. This may change in the future …
Thanks David – Perhaps I can keep digging and see what I turn up about the rumour of the ownership. I would be interested in seeing how Errol would be “marketed” these days .
Thanks, Maria. Here’s some more on that history, including some history of how the company’s logos and publicity were transformed because of and with Errol’s Adventure’s if Robin Hood. … It’s not clear from this if Warner Bros. AND Errol received royalties for use of his image, or just WB. It does appear, however, that the U.S. became a much bigger market for the flour after the “culinary landmark” use of Errol’s image.
Hi- sorry all- my photo did not come through so I have tried to delete – Maybe you can see it with the following address: kingsley-wallis.deviantart.com…
I can see why Patrice may want to monitor Errol’s image!
