Thank you, David, for this clear and concise information re: tonight’s line-up for “Starring Errol Flynn”, hosted by Robert Osborne and featuring guest hostess, Rory Flynn, (The Baroness of Mulholland!) airing on TCM/North America.–A. R.

I already have The Cruise Of The Zaca! More from down under and really enjoy it all. I will have to pass on some of these times and hope in the future there will be more like Master of Ballantrae and Too Much Too Soon. I need to see more of the later films. Maybe I can see some of Rory’s footage later on the computer at TCM?
Ida Lupino was a great friend of Errol’s. Rory also knew her and visited her home in later years with her sister Deidre. They all went up to visit Flynn’s grave together. Ida is buried very near Flynn’s grave today.
I enjoyed Rory’s interview bits and opening statements for each film shown, with the exception of when she repeated that erroneous statement about Lili Damita having been married to Curtiz. I mean didn’t we already disprove that on this blog?–A. R.
Yes, she told me she had said that during the interview but I didn’t tell her it was disputed on the blog. I don’t know what her source was but I didn’t want Rory to feel any embarrassment over mistating something during her appearance on TCM. It was so long ago, how do we really know if it is incorrect? I believe we found it to be untrue. I don’t want to argue it again.

As far back as in European newspaper articles from 1929 there is no mention of a relationship between Lili and Curtiz. See:www.theerrolflynnblog.com…
Are there any US sources prior to Higham`s “Libel of Errol” that state the opposite?
Thank you, David! Cruise of the Zaca, too! Wonderful! I wonder if Rory gets to reminisce about the Zaca and/or her Dad’s love for sailing.

Wonderful introduction to Operation Burma!, Rory!!! Really informative, intelligent, and touching!!!
Such great inside memories of Mulholland, Rory! Clark Gable, Cary Grant, Janet Leigh, all the gardenias! How fantastic!!
Rory answered the Rabbit Hood quiz! … and confirmed the story about Errol having a private copy of the film!!
Now it’s the Great Gentleman Jim!
I liked that part as well. Very little information on him partying with other big stars so that was great to hear.
