Wonderfully apropos that the Master of Mulholland stars in the Master of Ballantrae, featuring Mister Ballantine, a paramount influence on Steve Martin, who starred in McHale’s Navy with Little John’s son, Al Hale Jr. – along with the musical accompaniment of Bobby Sherwood, famous for the hit song “Sherwood’s Forest” (and album “Out of Sherwood’s Forest.”)
What show that must have been to see David! I think “Master Of Ballantrae” (1953) is Errol Flynn’s last great swashbuckler. Then the audience saw Ella Fitzgerald, the George Shearing Quintet, and the hilarious Carl Ballantine! I would love to be in a time machine and see that show! Ballantine was also really great on “Car 54” playing Gunther Toody’s arrogant brother-in-law! Thanks David!!! Ralph Schiller
