I say definitly maybe, Eagleye Tim. Danny Aiello for sure took a mighty Mulholland fall. The white fence at the end of the hill might provide the answer.

Now wait…the pool ladder looksflipped or reversed to me?
But everything else a definite maybe/yes…?????
          And hang on a sec.
Did the new owners re-set the ladder. Look at twin archers ladder setting in the photo. Then look at the older shot.
The diving board would have been to the observer’s left.
          Right?
OK I’m confused now. More photos!!!!

One thing for sure, Errol would have definitely had Charlize Theron up at the Farm! Look how stunning she is in that clip!! Holy Mul-holland! Is she beautiful!

I bet Danny A. would have been a Farm favorite, too.

Thanks, TZ. While researching for the quiz post presently up (What’s the Connection to Errol?), I came across a reference that Mulholland Farm may have been used in 2 Days in the Valley. So, I searched YouTube to see if there were any clips that might include the location referred to, and, voila, there was the explosive clip featured above. Looks like the old Mulholland Farm site to me, and the circa 1995 filming dates seem to match the timeframe after when Errol’s (Ricky Nelson’s) home was razed, but before any new building took place.

Cruise of the Zaca opens with a scene that helps establish the view from Errol’s pool. I believe this view is of the San Fernando Valley, and that it does indeed look similar to the one filmed almost fifty years later in 2 Days in the Valley, minus the tall buildings in Universal City. What do you guys think?

The photo below appears to have been taken from at or near the Universal City Overlook on Mulholland Drive, which is a short walking distance from 7740 Mulholland Drive, the former location of Mulholland Farm. The buildings, valley and mountains seem to match up well with the scene from 2 Days in the Valley, but I’m not positive.

Tim; This is a brilliant piece of detective work and historical research on something completely unknown to the Errol Flynn community. Thanks to Tim and his Baker Street Irregulars who assisted. Ralph Schiller

Thanks so much to you and the Baker Street Boys, Ralph. I believe we almost have this nailed down as Errol’s place. Here is an LA Times article from July ’95 providing further evidence. Coupled with the visual analyses we have done, I think this may confirm we are looking at Mulholland Farm in the wake of its tragic destruction.

Both gone too soon, but not without immortality:

A rough life indeed in Runyon Canyon, hollyheinz. It was much smoother sailing elsewhere for Errol. See, for example,”Errol Flynn & Company” at home in the waters west of Mulholland in this Cotton talkin’ flick about Tinsel Town in the Thirties, circa 12:00.

For the record, The Mighty Flynn is also featured near the end of this fabulous film as well, commencing at ~ 20:27, with references to Captain Blood, The Adventures of Robin Hood, and Dodge City, along the way. Plus, a bonus of what appears to be Michael Curtiz directing Charge of the Light Brigade at 19:32.
