Errol Flynn Costumes Recycled for 'The Tudors'

16 Dec

So if any of you are fans of the TV series The Tudors you may be happy to hear that costumes from films such as The Private Lives of Elizabeth & Essex and The Sea Hawk may have been re-used for some of the costumes worn by Jonathan Rhys Meyers in the role of young Henry VIII.

Joan Bergin, the costume designer for 'The Tudors' –

“So, we've brought in dresses from Krakow, Madrid, Lithuania, London, LA. In fact, I discovered a huge trove of costumes from a 1930s Errol Flynn film which I found when I was costuming The Prestige in Hollywood. It was an enormous stroke of luck because they were perfect for the period and have the wonderful craftsmanship and attention to detail you'd expect from the Studio Era. And, in fact, Jonathan wears some of Flynn's refurbished costumes.”

(full article: tvnz.co.nz/content/1636878/2661648/article.html…)

I however have not come across any that have stood out or that I recognised from Flynn's movies, but if anyone see's/knows, I'd love to know!

Outliving Flynn, now revised with a new Title says author George Thomas Clark!

13 Dec

“Outliving Flynn” – The title story tells a lot about the life of Errol Flynn, and contrasts his experiences with those of Martin Stevens, a character who looks life Flynn but lacks his talent and charisma.

For a revised edition of the story, now called “Fallen Star,” please click here

Incidentally, I also recently visited Flynn’s grave at Forest Lawn, where I’d attended an art exhibition.  See “Flowers for Errol Flynn”….

Errol Flynn Morgue Photo is circulating around…

12 Dec

And I have no desire to view it! I don't want it posted on this blog, for that matter… I have never made this kind of statement but feel strongly that I want always to think of Errol in life and not see his dead face or body posted here. I hope you will all agree with me. I hope I never see any of these photos in my entire life…

Errol Flynn Titchfield Hotel Swimming Pool 'tile' on ebay!

08 Dec

Dennis Mullen, our “Man in Jamaica” has a rare item up for auction on ebay: a genuine piece of tile from Errol Flynn's famed Titchfield Hotel pool! This is one of three pools at the old hotel ruins – now on private property used mainly by the Jamaican Army. It is a guarded area so not easily accessed and certainly not without permission! But Dennis enjoyed a two hour tour and was invited back again to have have a rum and coke at the swim up bar, too! Like Flynn, Dennis Mullen has a bit of charm going for him, to say the least!
