I'll say he was not in good health–he broke his foot during the filming of this sequence, February 1, 1952!

I always wondered why the said he broke it on the wet deck… it looks perfectly dry! It's amazing how the publicity machinery began to work then, with all the pictures taken of an actor's broken leg…
