Reynold Brown did the poster art and I found a site that has many posters on it. Some images are very good quality like the one here but the finished poster only came out in part either by mistake or on purpose. It is good enough that one could make their own and try to sell it. I like to collect images for myself so that one day I might make a poster for my wall but not to sell.

I received and watched my copy of The Roots Of Heaven on Blu Ray and enjoyed it. They did a pretty good job on the transfer and its nice to see Flynn in widescreen. However if you put his scenes back to back I am not sure it would be 15 minutes long. It should have been much more especially the scene where he talks about his problems during WWII and what happened to his men in that they stayed silent but he talked to save himself. It goes by so quickly you may miss the point if you didn’t already know about it from reading reviews like I have. It explains why he is such a mess and I wonder if it was like that because of Flynn’s condition of not being able to memorize he lines better? What a bummer. I know they had trouble from the heat but you would never know it from watching the film. They never once mention it and they don’t show anyone drinking water like they are suffering at all. They are not sweating that bad either unless they had 100 wardrobe changes during the takes. Juliette Greco is very sexy I must say. My favorite scenes with him are when they start getting down to business towards the end of the film when he acts more normal and not a drunken fool talking about his jumping bean. I wonder if they will put Istanbul on Blu Ray? That is another Cinemascope film.

Master Flynn Goes West – Through the East. His first international adventure! This is the trip Errol talks about in (His) Wicked, Wicked Ways. Not so great for the platypii, perhaps, but surely one of the most important and formative adventures of Errol’s life!

Errol (and his pet monkey) left a big impression on the kid who lived near him on Mulholland Drive. One he never forgot. Like Errol, he died far too young, but, in his day, this boy grew into the man Jackson Browne called “The Orson Welles of Rock ‘n’ Roll” and Bonnie Raitt declared the best singer/songwriter/guitarist in the world. Lowell George – son of the famous “Furrier to the Stars”, who had a chinchilla ranch right by Mulholland Farm. Member of the Mothers of Invention & Leader of Little Feat, he played also with Harry Nilsson, Frank Zappa, Bonnie Raitt, Emmylou Harris, Jackson Browne, Christopher Cross, Robert Palmer, Randy Newman and other legends from the 70’s. On Thanksgiving Weekend last year, I was up on Mulholland surveying the situation, trying to get a fix on the exact layout of Mulholland Farm. While doing so, I was greatly surprised to see a home called “Sirocco” only walking distance east of Errol’s old spot!
Naturally, I did take a photo of the Spanish tile “Sirocco” sign, but have lost the cell phone I had that shot saved on! Fortunately, though, I did write down the address. It’s @ 7621,about only 2000-ft from 7740, Errol’s address, on the opposite (north) side of Mulholland Drive.
Here’s the famous film noir star who lived there at “Sirocco” during Errol’s day – Dan Duryea (who I most remember from Pride of the Yankees & Wagon Train, I believe. But, IMO, it’s highly unlikely Dan Duryea would have named hs estate Sirocco. So, who did!!!???!!! Anyone in Flynnlandia know!?!
