Yachts race 17 mile course during McNish Classic

29 Jul

Saw this item on Google www.keyt.com… and it says that the yacht “Cheerio” once belonged to Errol.
Can any one confirm this and if so what name did it have under Errold ownership?

Hello Tassie Devil,

I’ve researched his boat a bit and can tell you that it was definitely Errol’s for a while. He bought it Charlie Chaplin’s friend, silent film comedian, George K. Arthur, on July 1, 1937. I believe it was named “Cheerio II” when Errol purchased it. Errol then changed its name to “The Bachelor”. It was later again named Cheerio II. I’ve heard that Errol may have also called it “Morocco”, but that may be a mistaken corruption of “Sirocco”, which Errol bought in Massachusetts the following year.

A few years ago, my son and I were invited on Cheerio II by owner and captain, Dick McNish, several years ago. The boat is a beauty, and the skipper even greater.

Good to hear back from you, Razmatassie. Tugboat Tim did quite a number on the Cheerio.,Here’s my 5 cents worth on the topic: www.theerrolflynnblog.com…
