Of course, my first objective was to find video of the wardrobe malfunction! I failed (though I believe I may have found a half-second clip), but in failing in this ignoble mission, looky what I did find – video of our mystery Mrs. Roosevelt at the 21 Club – our old stomping grounds! Welles, too! …. I might mix me up a Jack Rose!

There appears to be a date on the menu towards the end but is indecipherable…
You see how Faye and Elliot (together from December 1944- January 1950) were BOTH easy conversationalists and that Elliot appeared to have that same engaging charm of his dad!
Didn’t recognize any of the others, other than.. but ORSON’S ‘stache sets the date (with the additional help from the above marriage parameters)…
Filming for The Stranger (the ONLY opportunity for Welles to don this particular STYLE of facial adornment; 1949’s Black Magic’s was of the pencil style) took place from late September to November 21, 1945.
So that much more we DO know.
As to the FULLY “double trouble” wardrobe malfunction, it happened sometime during the one year (?) run of the Faye Emerson Show circa 1950. The show was broadcast from a studio CBS built on the sixth floor of the Stork Club building.
It’s a confusing trail for this show. It premiered in October 1949. IMDB lists 22 additional show dates with 20 synopses… although none of them too REVEALING.

And yes, for those who think young… Pepsi may well have been a part of her daily regimen- I know of more than one that are, literally, ADDICTED to the stuff!
(And Faye, curiously, DID PASS from stomach cancer.)
Faye’s show ( tinyurl.com… ) featured nothing but “artists” from various fields and she seemed to mingle with people of that persuasion off camera as does Tim’s video so attest to it seems).
Her 3rd husband (the musician Skitch Henderson) brought her still closer to the field of entertainment. .
