Errol Flynn cables Warners that he will sail aboard the Queen Mary Friday,
and will report as soon as possible
for his picture, The Perfect Specimen, with Miriam Hopkins.

Then he may exhibit his battle scars, if any, to back up his tales about seeing action on the Spanish front.

Elsewhere on the blog you will find more photos of members including me who have visited the QM and wandered about to the spots where Flynn is seen photographed on the way to Spain to cover the Spanish Civil War. I was able to find his cabin which has been renumbered. It was thought destroyed by renovations but in fact was not and I found it exactly where it was shown on an original map to the cabins. Indeed it was! As soon as I saw where that little bar was located, I knew Errol had planned things well for himself!

By the way some info comes in from a passing ship:

Eighty years ago is 4/13/37…not 3/13/1937. On 4/13/1937 Flynn is in London with Lili. Your source may have not done the math, according to my passing signal flags.

Lili Flynn Waterloo

Leaving Ireland

On the 4/14/1937 Flynn leaves Waterloo Station in London, without Lili, to board the Queen Mary. The pix of him jumping over the railing were taken a few days later, 4/18-19/1937. Not on 3/13/1937.

On 3/13/1937, Flynn was in Belfast visiting his father at the University. The next closest pic of Flynn is him leaving Belfast on 3/18/1937 to travel back to Paris to meet Lili.
