Charge Of The Light Brigade, Vol. III~The Alabama Hills, Lone Pine, Ca.

25 Aug

From my most recent trip. Photo #3 features the lovely Mrs. Florczak posing in the same spot as our Mr. Flynn.

There will be more to come from this film as well as from “Kim” which was also shot in Lone Pine. Enjoy!

Wow Robert. Those pics are wonderful. It's as if time has stood still with respect to the landscape. Great pic of EF with Arno too.

Thanks, Patti. It's a haunting experience being there, my second time. Gunga Din pics are in the works from this trip, also.

Boy, rocks never change. These then and now photos are so much fun. Mrs. F is beautiful! You must really have a hard time when you travel to Chico trying to find the right spots (trees grow, creeks erode, etc.). Thanks for sharing.

Hi Robert,
Many thanks… I can just imagine the kick you must get when coming across the actual scene. I think the photos are wonderful and the one with Arno is a new one for me. Thanks again!
best wishes,
Brian.

Amazing, work, Robert! The two rocks, spot on, camera lense match. And the one of your wife standing in the very place once occupied by Flynn is eerie.

Hi Robert;
I have been a little out of touch with the Blog lately, eye surgery and other wonderful things what life gives you to deal with.
You have performed the most amazing sleuth work ever to trace Errol on the landscape he walked on. I wish I could come with you when you go on those wonderful trips in history. Totally amazing! Thank you ever so much for sharing this wonderful experiences with us who live so far away from the spots he roamed.
All the very best to you,
Tina

Hi Robert;
Things have not been ideal for my family and me far from it, nothing but sickness, but as every down has an up – we hope and that's all we can do that things will be better again.
What are your plans for your next trip to walk in Errol's footsteps?
I would love to accompany you if you have me joining you and if that would be permissible? I am serious – no whimsical talk! Please write to me.

Tina, I am sorry to hear of your illness and hard times. Life is pretty rough stuff sometimes. But you are made of tough stuff and have a heart of pure gold. Robert has a Master's eye and produces such moving and wonderful images in all mediums. How fortunate we are to have his talents on display here and when I think of how much you have contributed to the blog (along with those on this page and on others) I am overwhelmed with with what you all have made out of this blog… no amount of thanks says enough…

Hello, Tina. So sorry to hear of your predicament. Hope all improves in short time.
On my list of upcoming location jaunts are Rancho Palos Verdes for scenes from “Dive Bomber”, and return journeys to Lone Pine and Chico.
My recent trip to Germany didn't allow for any film research–it was too blasted cold and only afforded me a quick visit to the Mohne Dam, site of the Dam Busters Raid–but I may return later this year and would like to follow Flynn's footsteps during his Stuttgart visit.
Any time you can make it to Los Angeles, you are welcome to join me on any of my regular location outings.

Hi Robert;
I am trying to catch up with all the items and I am sorry not to have replied earlier. This news sounds great!
The weather in Europe was very bad this winter so I hear from my friends, but not much better in Toronto – nothing but the white stuff! The other day I had to shovel it because my contract boy was sick and as I shoveled I was thinking “I wonder if Errol ever shoveled snow”? Most likely not as he always lived in warm climates. You lucky warm climate people!
Now that you have two traveling companions “When are we off”?
I wish you all the best!

Hi Robert!
God in heaven – I would be no burden in anyway! I would be just happy that you would consider to take me along on your sight-sleuthing adventure. To see first hand where Errol roamed would be an unbelievable and unforgettable experience.
