The House Errol lived in

29 Oct

Dear Flynnstone,

here is a little real estate time capsule:

Swashbuckling Hollywood superstar, the late Errol Flynn once stayed in a Hythe house which has just come on the market.

And the acting connection does not stop with the screen mitinee idol who still makes middic-aged female hearts throb when his films appear on today’s television screens.

The large semi-detached house on the scafront at West Parade, Hythe, was formerly owned by Court Photographer Lisa Sheridan, mother of actress Dinah Sheridan, famed for her performance in the classie film comedy Genevieve.

Besides other Hollywood stars of the 30s and 40s are reputed to have stayed at the house, which provides excellent family accommodation and would be ideal for sailors and windsurfing.

Or it could operate as a small guest house, having four large bed-rooms, all with basins, two reception rooms, kitchen, large utility room, workroom, bathroom, two wes, integral garage and walled garden.

Agents for the property, which has been immaculately maintained, with double glazing, fitted carpets and gas central heating, are Worsfolds of Hythe. The asking price is €64,500.

Enjoy,

A letter to Errol

14 Oct

Dear Errol,

66 years ago you left this earth to roam around the 7 seas forever. A lot has happened since then. One thing didn’t change. There are still people in the world who discover your movies and love them. It happened to me over 5 years ago. I am watching your movies ever since. You are still remembered by a lot of people. Some remember the bad things, but most remember the good things. You are still a hero to many. You can be very proud of Deirdre and Rory. They still visit filmfestivals in your honour. They delight fans and strangers alike with their stories about you, and ofcourse their friendliness. I propose a toast to you, the master of the 7 seas and beyond. The man who still is loved by the people who visit this blog and many others. One day we all join you, but untill then, a toast to the best swashbuckler there ever was.

I hope everybody will join me with this toast to the man who gave us Captain Blood, Robin Hood, George Armstrong Custer and many happy hours in the cinema and at home. Viva Errol Flynn

In case you couldn’t ’find your copy of  the Wisconsin Journal Times, on June 21, 1941,

you may have missed this ad…and I don’t believe this profile will be showing up in Errol’s

portrait gallery.

Enjoy.

Sirocco

I just found this on Bluesky. You can buy the book for $19.99 as paperback or read the ebook for free if you are a amazon unlimited member. For more information you can follow the link. I am not sure what kind of book it is, but as it is about our dear Errol, I thought it might be interesting.

A little update. I found it as Ebook at sites of bookstores in the Netherlands. I was able to get it for free. From what I saw it contains pictures and Errol’s lifestory. Not sure if all is correct though. I hope the fans outside the USA are able to find it too.
