Dear Flynnstones,
Stanley Kubrick`s former Victorian estate Abbots Mead is on the market again. Inside Stanley Kubrick’s Former Estate: Abbots Mead | stupidDOPE | Est. 2008
This offer offers us a curious Flynn connection, other than the symbologistic (not to use the word visionary) director´s initial impuls to cast Errol as H.H. for his Lolita-adaptation: In should`ve been Flynn 13 « The Errol Flynn Blog
Do you see it?
Take a close look at the bathroom (photo courtesy of Savills), a place always prominently pictured in SK`s movies.

Yes, it shows the same female figurine, that watches Errol Flynn’s grave.
So, maybe, when Stanley lay in his bathtube for recreational and inspirational purposes under that black monolithic madonna, he saved a thought or two about our man Flynn. The one that got away, declining a career opportunity in dire times by cooly declaring: “You see, Old Sport, me and Bev come as a sort of a package deal.”
When Errol`s one time business manager Lew Wasserman, the later boss of Universal Studios, was asked as who he`d like to reincarnate, he replied instantly: “Clark Gable.”
I wonder who Kubrick`s favourite starchild was.
Enjoy,

Curious bit of irony there (and GREAT catch on the figurine) as Flynn remarked that, for him, romance and water didn’t, pardon the expression, ” float” for him)… in other words- above the bath would neither add to the imagination nor do anything for the performance… by the by~ your use of starchild puzzles me as to the possible referent?
KK, you are right. Errol had an affinity to but no fondness of water. He said he would never drink a glas thereof, because fish do mate (not to use another four letter word) in there. Furthermore he regretted not having succeeded in doing so himself. Being an excellent swimmer seems by on means a shoo-in. Kubrick may keep that in mind in his next life, installing the black madonna in his bedroom instead of the bathroom. And he may opt to come back as a childish movie star instead of distinguished director.
