Living according to Sean

21 Aug

Dear Flynnmates,

here are some photos of Sean Flynn`s Paris apartment courtesy of PARIS MATCH Magazine.

It was kept intact by his mother Lili Damita, long after he went missing in Vietnam, in hope he might return.

Its interior shows his old man`s lust for adventure as well as his mom`s knack for flair.

A miniature Zaca can be spotted sitting atop the book shelves and a how-to-become-a-photographer manual resides prominently on the kitchen table.

This time capsule`s address was Champs Elysees No. 77.

Very welcome, Witty Dave. Maybe you could ask Rory, if that was her in the picture together with Sean.

I‘m merely following in your gumshoes, Rushstreet Ralph. Again I have to resort to the guessing game here and wonder if the girl in this picture might be the Italian actress David Niven wrote about in his biography, who kept Sean company when they met at a party in Europe..

Hey, what issues of Paris Match were these? I’d love to get my hands on the article about his apartment. I remember seeing it covered in The Times in the 90s and it always stuck with me

Hi Ropper1. Sean published his first feature in Paris Match No. 887 in April 7 of 1966. I have to get back to you for the info on the issue above.

Thanks for your patience, Ropper 1, you are a real trooper. Unfortunately I did purchase only the article and not the magazine as a whole. So the date is obscure. My best guess is March 1991 or the months prior. I found out that PARIS MATCH gained access to Sean‘s apartment by Lili Damita herself in 1988. So there may be an article out there about that as well. And as recently as 2021 also a PM special on war correspondents was issued:…
