Dear fellow Flynn fans,
after last week’s guessing game about what could have been, had Flynn been in- Case of the curious blog 3- here is another of Errol`s projected flics that actually made it to the big screen. Thank you, blog member Ralph Schiller for hinting at this little known fact.
It is the story of Irish freedom fighter Michael Collins starring Irish Pride Liam Neeson.
Enjoy,

‘Michael Collins’ (1996) was an excellent film and Liam Neeson was splendid in it. It’s hard to believe that 19 years have passed. Flynn now a serious actor would also have been ideal for the role. I wonder if the studios passed on ‘Michael Collins’ because of MGM’s colossal flop about another Irish patriot “Parnell” (1937). It starred Clark Gable who was backed up by the MGM stock company of players Edmund Gwenn, Donald Crisp, Edna May Oliver, lovely Myrna Loy, and George Zucco!

Wow, that would have been something. Errol Flynn as Michael Collins. What year are we talking? Irish Catholics, Free Ireland supporters, and anti-imperialists around the globe would have loved it, but would have a full and accurate screenplay of the story been allowed by any major studio or distributor? Flynn, of course, was suspected by the British to have been pro-IRA.
