Well- I thought the hostess was pouring something onto the plate as that looks like a ladle – must have been messy if Errol had to have a towel around his neck!
Just realized that Errol had been acquitted on February 7, 1943 – would these people have possibly been supporters of some sort?

Was this a juror’s home, perhaps?
Again just guessing, but, to me, this fellow shaking hands with Errol looks like he could be related to some of the dinner party attendees.
