Errol Flynn Titchfield Hotel Swimming Pool 'tile' on ebay!

08 Dec

Dennis Mullen, our “Man in Jamaica” has a rare item up for auction on ebay: a genuine piece of tile from Errol Flynn's famed Titchfield Hotel pool! This is one of three pools at the old hotel ruins – now on private property used mainly by the Jamaican Army. It is a guarded area so not easily accessed and certainly not without permission! But Dennis enjoyed a two hour tour and was invited back again to have have a rum and coke at the swim up bar, too! Like Flynn, Dennis Mullen has a bit of charm going for him, to say the least!

There won't be another opportunity like this for some time! It's not easy to get into this property and nobody takes care of the ruins at all…

That's just so odd, paying $100 for an old tile… It'd be interesting to get to know more about the army base, how it came to be one and why and more about the ruins… would love to hear about that.

This tile was likely stepped on by Flynn himself! And many other famous guests of his Titchfield Hotel! It is a keepsake that you can't find anywhere else, from a place will one day be gone completely – that is what makes the tile interesting… it was laying at the bottom of his pool while Flynn and Earl Conrad sat above at a table talking about his book My Wicked, Wicked Ways…

Maybe he always left out exactly this tile when he was stepping along his pool… it's just as funny an object as the airplane seats which were once offered.

It is not a funny object to me, at all…
