Hi Robert;
I just finished two heavy days with no time for the blog!
I am curious, how do you know that it is from the time of filming “Dodge City? This would be 1939!

For several reasons, Tina, but I can generally determine the time by his look. In this case it's the mustache, the only time he ever wore it this way was during “Dodge City”. And to be precise, that would be anywhere between fall of '38 and winter of '39. By the time of the junkett in April, he was already wearing it differently.

Yes, it's striking how “long” it was for Dodge City, also in other publicity stills. It gave him a whole different look.
It seems as if this film, contrary to some others, came out in France relatively soon after the original release, in 1940, so this could be the time of the mag, too.

Got to correct myself, the mag is from 1946, and it is very rare and very expensive (about 25$ as far as I found).

Hi Inga;
Are you sure of the date?
It would be great as I could enter it with the picture.
Take care,
Tina

Hi Robert;
Thank you for this inside, never thought about his mustache! Being that a beard grows daily the trimming must have been in a very precise way to keep it look the same. I must take a close look at the pictures and concentrate on the differences of his mustache. Another thing to keep me busy! Thanks!
Take care,
Tina
