A Christmas Errol

21 Dec

Dear fellow Flynn fans,

still looking for the perfect christmas present?
Invaluable auctions off an item featuring our Hollywood hero. If you look carefully he lingers in the back of the picture in his typical Lord of Shanghai pose (…).
Get a great for a grand:…

Mingle bells,

Sorry for the delay, poloheinz, I was searching high and low (especially low), and further left, to see where slimy Johnny Meyer was lurking at this otherwise A-list assembly. … I suppose Katie Bar-the-Door Hepburn was kept out by their no-pants policy.

“The Polo Lounge has been the epitome of classic Hollywood since 1941, when the booths were peppered daily with the likes of Errol Flynn, Charlie Chaplin and Marilyn Monroe—and women weren’t allowed to wear pants. A recent renovation made Angelenos everywhere nervous, but the lounge reopened to reveal that all its pink-and-green ambiance remains intact. Today it’s where $25 omelettes are served, where fresh-squeezed mimosas are sipped and where serious Hollywood deals are still being made. It’s insanely overpriced, but worth the wallet dent every now and again.”

So the Polo Lounge was another one of many waterholes Errol liked to visit. Leroy Nieman also painted his pall bearer’s parlor: the restaurant of Prince Mike Romanoff.
