What an insight “happiest couple” I don’t think so Primarily I believe the attraction was physical and the two of them were as different as chalk and cheese. He didn’t take himself seriously, she I think was temperamental hard to deal with and very very possessive.I have always believed that Flynn’s life would have followed a very different path had he never married her. The more restrictions put on him the more he would rebel against them. As we all know the settlement she was able to get when they divorced was unprecedented but like they say “hell hath no fury like a woman scorned” Although Flynn was by no means innocent himself. Thanks for posting this. Even reading the article after all these years you can see they had nothing in common.

Thank you, daringthorpe. Chalk one up for you. There’s no holes in that analysis.

Again I can’t access this link. BTW has anyone any more details on the alleged Curtiz/ Damita marriage. Where did they get married? Surely someone has seen an announcement in a newspaper? Since Damita was supposed to be way out of Curtiz’s league could it have been a marriage of convenience. I.e. a way for her to gain admittance to the US?–A. R.

Here you go, A.R. I apologize, but, for reasons unknown to me, I haven’t had much success lately establishing links in the main post. No problem in the comments, though.
