Cuban Story1

THE GOAL

We need $40,000 to restore and reedit the film CUBAN STORY (1953), a unique, historical documentary narrated and presented by Errol Flynn featuring Che, Castro and Batista.

The historic and unique quality of Cuban Story is a valuable contribution to History. Help us save the film for posterity by donating to our worthy cause!

     * Cuban Story was the first film to show Castro’s face to Russia.

* The existing film is 50 minutes and shot in classic black and white.

* The film material is held at the Academy of Motion Pictures in LA.

INFO-BITE: The prior Head of the ICAIC Archives in Cuba saw the film and stated   that most of the material is unique and not available even in the ICAIC archives!

Even if you can’t donate, you can still be a crucial part of this campaign. Please spread the word about Cuban Story: the re-mix by liking it on Facebook or posting about it on Twitter. We hope you enjoy and are as amazed as all when you see it.

See more on the Website!

It’s quite a short time for such an amount of money. May I ask what will happen if only, say, 30,000$ are collected?

I posted this so that the word about Kyra’s funding project gets out far and wide but don’t know the complete details – perhaps on the linked webpage there is a way to contact the group to ask this question …

Funds will be used first to restore, then to edit, then for admission to Festivals. So no matter how much we arrive it – it will be put to good use towards the film. Any questions- post them … I will be happy to reply!

Thanks, Kyra, I was just a bit worried that if you fail to get the entire sum, the rest might be lost. But it’s good to hear this won’t be the case.

As I mentioned on Jack Marino’s FB page:

(The logo in the article misspells Batista and presents Castro as Che!) I wonder if the producers will include a postscript on how much worse things got after Fidel took over. Fortunately, our friend Errol lived long enough to see the folly of the so-called revolution: “… the police state in Cuba is not very different from that of its predecessors.”

Very true … Errol sure could pick ’em! But nobody, then or now, has a crystal ball that reveals the future so poor Errol ended up backing the wrong horse. At least he was able to make a public statement about it before he checked out – I think the footage is well worth the viewer’s time and agree completely, this is also a chance to put the story into historical perspective …

And most importantly – that you for posting this – it is quite a challenge getting this done – but a must :)

Kyra! You are very welcome! Always happy to help get the word out about your project. I am in LA right now, visiting Jack & Louise Marino, and hope to hear you on his radio show!

Hi – read you article – where is “misspells Batista and presents Castro as Che!” that is an error I must correct… and yes – it is a thought that we all had –
