Hello and Crossed Swords

01 Nov

Hello Everyone, i recently tried to post an article but unfortunately my PC crashed and i was too disheartened to re-attempt… i will do so again at a later date………….in the meantime i have exciting news concerning a soon to be officially released remastered Dvd of Crossed Swords.

My contact in the company releasing it informs me that it…..IS A PRISTINE BEAUTIFULLY RESTORED
For my part in helping this get off the ground, i have been offered a free copy of the Dvd and they have created a web page for me to forward recieve orders exclusively from my friends direct. This way you guys and gals will be ahead of anyone else outside of Flynn fansites in getting a chance to ordering copies of this movie.
They have also offered me a small sum to help towards my intended Flynn book, but to be honest…to finally see this movie in a Pristine English language version, is reward enough !!
In the next few days i should recieve the link to ordering this long sought
after DVD release, i will then post it on here.
If they don't do this before November the 9th, it will be after December the 2nd
Before i can post it, unless i get regular access to another PC Whilst on holiday in
So I hope that my joining this group has proved to be an eventful
one which benefits so many of you

Hi Darren, this is exciting, after reading all that I have read so far about Errol, this movie would really be interesting to see indeed! So much was going on in his life at this time that some say the signs of dissipation are visible and that his acting was affected terribly because of it. Up till now though, I kinda think crtics were just too hard on him, I mean they said this about some of his other movies too and I have to say that I don't see it. It's like they expected him to never age and always look youthful or something. I think, in spite of his health and personal woes, he looks good in his later movies, like a handsome older man should look. Thanks for sharing and I can't wait, Tammy.

Hi Tammy, I'd like to agree with you – some critics just seem to accept the fact that people DO age and want them to remain young forever. I've only seen some pictures of “Crossed Swords”, but there, too, he looks good as in other later movies as well. Of course, we don't know how much make up was involved, but when you see private or press photos of his later years, I don't see much difference. – So, Darren, me too, I'm looking forward to the movie!

Darren, count me in too for wanting to see the high quality DVD of Crossed Swords!
And Tammy, I totally agree with you that the critics, even today, tend to be very hard on Errol in his films from the '50s, saying his looks (and acting?) deteriorated, but like you I just don't see it — I don't agree with those critics. Yeah, it's weird how they almost expected Errol to stay young forever. I too think he still looked handsome in his later films…maybe not *as* devastatingly handsome as he looked in his late 20s and in his 30s, but still handsome nonetheless; as you said, like a handsome older man should look.

Thanks for agreeing, I mean, I just watched one of his later movies The Big Boodle, which again the critics said this and that, and I thought he looked good, considering again, his personal life and what have you. It's ashame too, because that movie really showed yet a different side of his acting ability, yea he's older, but still handsome and still flashing that smile!

Great News! I've seen the movie poster for this, but like so many other of his films, hard to find! Hope this is an All Region DVD for those of us in The United States. Best of luck on your book, we need one for us fans.

I have three copies of Crossed Swords and the one I got from my pal Lou is the best of them all – but far from anything pristine! The first two copies are like watching the movie through a snowstorm (sound is perfect on both) and the third from Lou is the “best color available” at the time in which you can see the movie and see the colors of the costumes, etc but they are washed out and imperfect to say the least of it! I am very happy to discover that a new remastered version is coming out. This is not a bad movie, chums… and Errol should look rather good in it!
