Hi!
Again maybe I've picked up on something that is not new and may have already been discussed but have people noticed that in “Captain Blood” when Errol is dictating his agreement with his band of men on the ship after escaping from the island the date he quotes as the day of the agreement is his birthday -20th June and then in one of the early scenes the Captain that arrests him is Captain Hobart! I've been meaning to see if there are any more references but maybe other people have picked up on a few in other movies?
kind regards Diana

Hi Diane;
How observant – wonderful!
The movie begins with the year 1685 and Captain Hobart played by Stuart Casey is the arresting officer of Peter Blood when he attends to Lord Gildoy played by Denis d'Auburn at the beginning of the movie.
When Peter Blood dictates the articles of agreement as to the conduct and rewards of his men shall receive, he states the date as 20th of June, 1687 – 222 years prior to his birth. Question is was this accidentally in the script re: Captain Hobart's name or did Errol requested the name and date and if so what is the significance of the number 222 for Errol?
I have never read Rafael Sabatini's novel “Captain Blood” – did anyone? Would be nice to verify name and date from the book?
One question always leads to another!
Great observation Diana!
Best Regards,
Tina

If you add 1687 and 222 it comes to 1909, plus the 20th of June. Incidentally, TCM will show 11 Flynn films in June and 7 on the 20th. Larry

Hi Larry;
Exactly my point, but could 222 have a meaning we could relate to Errol? Maybe somebody has an idea?
Yes, there are many Errol movies on TCM – in May there was and are five. still to be seen is Four's a Crowd on May 25 – Silver City May 27 – Objective Burma May 30. TCM shows him every month! I am looking forward to June and I am sure June 20th I will do nothing but watch TCM, although I have all his movies, except the lost ones I always love to see them on TV. Kind a different feeling!
Take care,
Tina
