A warm hello to all Errol Fans!
Errol
was an athlete par excellence!
In this sentiment, I thought I give you
real treat today and share this very rare picture with you, which I have for a
very long time!
Please observe – he has only three fingers
of his left hand on the rail – the thumb and the little finger are not touching
the rail – he is at least 6” to 8” above the rail – the rail is 4’6” – he hold
a cigarette in his right hand, which is up in the air and his grin beats all
odds!
Can anyone beat a hurdle like this?

Hello, all. Sorry I've been swamped with work and away.
Here's an interesting tidbit: While doing research at the Warner Archives I noticed that on each day's production page is an accounting of how many still photos were taken of the scenes being filmed. In those days, a large format (8×10) camera was set up next to the motion picture camera to take shots of each scene as a record of production and for use in publicity. The photographer would number each photo, and that numerical accounting can be seen on all photos from the studio era.
Which brings me to the attached photo. I noted from the daily schedule that Flynn's very first scenes filmed in Captain Blood” were, in fact, those in which we first see him in in the film–at home when Ross Alexander comes to call. Knowing this, I made the fascinating discovery that this still is numbered “CB-1″, the very first still from the very first scene from Flynn's very first starring role! How wonderful to have this and to ponder as to just what was going on in his mind at the moment it was taken. Certainly a young man filled with anxiety, and no clue as to what the future held beyond this opportunity.
Enjoy!
