Tim, is the person Pandro Berman? I’ve no idea what letter was written 70 years ago but did find a little tidbit that Berman had wanted Flynn (pre-Captain Blood) for a role in the RKO movie (starring Hepburn and Grant), Sylvia Scarlett. But supposedly both Hepburn and director George Cukor said no.

It’s a no-go on Pandro, barb. And thanks be to the cinematic gods it was a no-go for Errol in Sylia Scarlett, too!

More clues will be on their way in another hour or two or so!

The hotel is the El Rancho Hotel in New Mexico. Is the woman in the photo Ginger Rogers? I dug up in google that Ginger used to play tennis with Errol, and in 1950, she actually played mixed doubles in the US Open. Did he write to Ginger from the El Rancho? No clue about how he employed Ginger unless you mean that they played tennis?

Not Ginger either, barb. Though Errol and her would have been an exciting match.

The curious looking fellow in the link below has a connection.

Like the Price connection, there’s a connection to one of the Mercury Players in Citizen Kane

          Congrats, Selene!

Tim, what’s the significance of the top two photos and the connection to Citizen Kane?

There was a series of letters between Errol and William Marshall concerning the production of what was originally referred to as “Bloodline”, barb.

In the 30’s William Marshall was a singer for famous band leader Fred Waring, who had many hits over a long career in music. Some of his hit records, and some of his various bands, are shown in the video above. In addition to all his great success in music, Fred Waring invented the pioneering Wariing blender, with which he is pictured above.

That’s the autograph of Agnes Moorehead on the Citizen Kane program above. Long before she was in Captain Fabian, she was one of Orson Welles’ Mercury Players, a leading radio talent and then, very notably, Mrs. Kane in this chilling scene:
