Linda Christian
I somehow missed this... Linda Christian passed away on July 22nd of this year. She was 87 years old. Not only was she, as we know, a friend of Errol and married to Tyrone Power, but also the first Bond Girl and mother of Romina Power, a quite popular singer, at least in Europe, in the 1980s.

Re: Linda Christian
From IMDB:
Born Blanca Rosa Welter, her father was an executive with an important oil company and the future Linda Christian followed him from country to country: South Africa, Romania, Germany, France, Switzerland, England, Palestine. This was beneficial in that the little girl - a very good pupil at school - was eventually able to speak seven different foreign languages. Trivia Once worked as a plastic surgeon's assistant. Worked for the British Censorship Bureau in Palestine. Attended universities in Mexico, Venezuela, Palestine, South Africa, Holland and Italy. Older sister of actress Ariadna Welter. Mother of actress Taryn Power and actress Romina Power. Was the very first "James Bond" girl, appearing in a TV adaptation of the Bond novel "Casino Royale" in 1954, "Climax!: Casino Royale (#1.3)" (1954). Linda and her sister, Ariadna Welter, appeared in one movie together, The Devil's Hand (1962). During the late 1940s Christian roomed with Ruth Roman and five other aspiring actresses. They called the residence "The House of Seven Garbos.". Is buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Palm Springs, CA. In his autobiography "My Wicked, Wicked Ways" Errol Flynn says he met Linda Welter in a Mexico City bar and took her to Acapulco. She told him she had never been to the States and wanted to go. He offered a contract and, after she got to Hollywood, paid Dr. Bill Wallace to fix her teeth. Flynn had played Fletcher Christian, and changed her name to Linda Christian. Re: Re: Linda Christian

Thanks, David! Did you know about her death? I was quite surprised when I accidentally discovered it...
Re: Re: Re: Linda Christian
I believe I had heard it, yes...

The ranks are sure thinning of people who knew Errol!
Only very, very few are left. She must have been quite a lady! Thanks Inga for making us aware of it! Re: Linda Christian

I like this picture and yes, how did her death go unnoticed?

Hi Inga, just being not 100% sure...who are, apart from Errol, of course, the people on the photo? It seems to be quite rare, isn't it?

Not being even 50% sure, I think the lady on the right is Linda (at least that was stated, I thought she looked more like Nora), and back there, if I recall correctly, Ty Power?
Re: Re: Linda Christian
The photo was taken at Da Bouttea restaurant in Cannes on September 14, 1949. With Flynn are Danielee Parola and Mr. and Mrs. (Linda Christian) Tyrone Power.

I thought we maybe should have a picture of Linda Christian here on the blog. She sure was gorgeous!
Would you say this is the same Danielee Parola seen above sitting beside Errol and as seen in this picture here water skying? Daniele or Daniela Parola a French actress imdb.
Do you think they are the one and same person? Re: Re: Linda Christian
One and the same.

Thanks Robert! Good to know another friend of Errol's!
He loved water skying, she looks like a pro, I wonder if they had that sport in common? |
