The Errol Flynn Blog :: Errol & Olivia-Their First Scene

In my ongoing research at the Warner Archives, I discovered that Olivia de Havilland did her very first scene with Errol Flynn on August 13, 1935 on a studio soundstage. The scene is the one depicting her and her uncle (played by Lionel Atwill) addressing Peter Blood in the prison work yard. I have included a couple of screen grabs from that scene. Fascinating now to observe the very starting point of a classic film pairing that neither one could have imagined would develop. Enjoy!

Your discoveries are fantastic - how wonderful to be at the source. You being on the Warner Lot? Are you going to be in a movie again?
That would be great! Any News?
These two picture are great and thank you for sharing them with us. One couldn't find them anywhere! I am still trying to find the Robin Hood picture for you. I have the request for this picture out there in cyberland on a few websites, maybe somebody will come forward and say "Hear Yea, hear yea I have it!"

Thanks, Tina. My research is actually done at the Warner Archives on the campus of The University of Southern California. It is truly a treasure trove for us scholars. who, in reality are just huge fans in disguise!

No plans for any new movies for me, though I plan soon on uploading a film I did with Tippi Hedren in '84. Stay tuned.

I wish I had a scanner, as I have this great Errol and Olivia picture that would be great to share. They are dancing at some ball.

Oh, that would be so wonderful to see. It must be "The British Ball",
I am not sure of the exact name of the Ball, but Errol arranged through David Niven that Olivia would be his date and they danced amongst other melodies to "Sweet Leilani". It would be a great picture to see for our members. Maybe a friend could help?
