Beam End Revisited: A travel diary from the Australian Eastcoast & Beyond, Hobart Jan, 2nd 2012

02 Jan

Before leaving Hobart tomorrow for a trip around Tasmania, today I have had the chance to get into the old Town Hall, which was open due to an antique fair. The interiors don't seem to have changed that much since Errol attended dance nights here, being a teenager. Quite a spooky atmosphere in there when you tried to imagine Errol dancing here or climbing the staircases.
There were 2 old ladies offering a collection of portrait photographs of old movie stars. There have been 2 or 3 with Lili Damita. they wanted 100 AUD for it( the complete collection of 100 portaits in all, that is), so I let it go. Well, I'm no collector anyway. Surely some of you wouldn't have hesitated to get it.

    Pretty crowded in there! I imagine it was hard to imagine anything with all the people there!

    Hi Volker;
    Another great reportage of Errol's dancing footsteps!
    Keep bringing those goodies! Tina

    Sorry Volker but I think you meant to say that these pics are from the City Hall. The town hall is more ornate but a lot smaller but it is still where Errol attended dances. Well done and a pleasure meeting with you.

    YES, of course, you are right. I just mixed it up. Thanks for getting it right.
