This early morning I visited
Gladstone. It’s the southern entrance to the “Narrows”. The passage EF took to
get from Gladstone to Port Alma and on to Rockhampton. It still seems to be a
very industrialized town & port. I found the old lighthouse, well, at least
the top of it; behind the fence of the Maritime Museum, which is unfortunately
currently closed due to Christmas season. From Victoria Park outlook you have a
good view on today’s yacht harbor. Did the Sirocco anchor there?
And on to Bundaberg, some 130 KM
south. Close to the CBD is the Burnett River. Probably the Sirocco sailed
up to town since Bundaberg is actually
about 10 KM from the coast.
“Burboung St” (historically misspelled
for Bourbon St.) is and was then the CBD. I guess then it was all there was!
Quite a lot of the old buildings are still there. More or less. EF has been in “Bundy” for 4 days. He has
walked this street and seen what we still can behold today. Check out the photo
from the Bundaberg Post Office now and then.
My next post will be from “Great
Sandy”

I love this series, Volker! You are what I have for years termed a “a true Flynn Detective”! I appreciate the work it takes to run down these photo comparisons and to post them while you are the fly like this! You take all of us at The Errol Flynn Blog with you on this marvelous journey!
