I would like to ask if any of you know this hand-coloured etching created by the Hungarian artist Gerson Kovacs. You are probably familiar with the name of Josef Fegerl who published the book about Flynn and Erben. Mr Fegerl also commissioned this limited series of 99 numbered signed prints. It'd be interesting for him to know where they “went”, or where they are today. I would be grateful for any information, also via e-mail. Thanks!

Very interesting Inga!
Are you saying he commissioned Gerson Kovacs to produce this artwork and then he produced the limited series of 99 numbered signed prints? In what year did he commissioned the work? Where they all sold in Austria? Are you saying you are trying to find 99 different people who have one of these prints? Through whom did Mr. Fegerl sell the prints? Tracing things like that will be most difficult – I would say.
Take care,
Tina

Yes, Tina, in 1989, at the occasion of Errol's 80th birthday and the 30th anniversary of his death, Mr Fegerl asked Mr Kovacs to do this etching. I know that it is quite impossible to find 99 people, but maybe someone has got an insight into it. I understood that part of them were sold in England, but don't know through whom.

80th Birthday celebration picture – very nice!
What is the reason for trying to find these prints?

That's a beautiful Robin Hood etching! I'd love to see the other pieces that were commissioned…

Oh, sorry — guess I misunderstood about the prints…didn't realize this Robin Hood one is *the* one done 99 times. Silly me. :-) Somehow I thought there were other Flynn prints made besides Robin Hood.

No problem, I tend to express myself not clearly enough. :-))

No, it wasn't you, Inga. You expressed yourself fine. It was me — my brain cells were on vacation a bit (esp with my Seattle trip coming up this week). :-)
