Sorry it's me again… I just received some interesting information from Britain.
In 2009, I visited Leeds Castle in Kent and was astonished to read that Errol had been a guest there once. No further information was supplied. Now I contacted the castle directly, and here is what they wrote:
“All we know for certain is that Errol Flynn signed the castle's guest book on 17th April 1937; sadly we are not in possession of all the guest books so we do not know if this was a one-off visit, or one of several made to the castle to stay with Sir Adrian and Lady Baillie. We have heard that he took a Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy from a litter of Lady Baillie's back to America with him, which was the first of the breed in America. But I am afraid that is about all that is known.”
Does anybody know why Errol was in England at that time? Any connection to Spain? Robert, our date expert? You might even supply the castle with information, I think they would be interested in finding out about their famous guest themselves…
Take care!
