I am pleased to announce New Author Inga Klein to The Errol Flynn Blog! Inga provides her own picture for this announcement and asks a few questions:
“Does anybody know when this photo was taken?” It shows Austrian born Romy Schneider kissing Errol’s cheek at the Berlin Film Festival in 1957, she believes. She says, ”I’d also like to ask if there’s anybody out there who knows something about errol’s visit to berlin in 1957?
“…strange someone from near berlin should ask this, but so far i havent’s been very successful in my research. All i found out was that he is supposed to have kissed another woman in front of his wife. Patrice was with him, that’s all i know. Maybe somebody out there knows something more?”
Inga, I have some photos of a very surprised Flynn being kissed by a fan at the event and yes, Pat appeared with him at the festival. These photos may already be here somewhere on the blog but I will dig them out for you, too!

Welcome, Inga, to the blog; we look forward to your thoughts and posts about our man Flynn…

I've seen photos of Flynn in Germany in 1954, but don't know of him being there in 1957. Where did you find the pic? (Poor Romy Schneider—another sadly foreshortened life!)
Cheers!

i found it in a magazine about the life of romy schneider. the other day, i saw a picture of errol in berlin in a book about the berlinale film festival, and it said 1957, that's why i thought so. in 1954, romy was not yet as famous. and errol's looks rather hint at 1957…

Thank-you Inga for providing that rare photograph with Romy Schneider and Errol Flynn in 1957.
Romy Schneider was one of the most exotic and sensuous actresses to ever hit the silver screen.
Nearly 20 years after this photo was taken she starred in a superb 'film noir' mystery film “Dirty Hands” with the great Rod Steiger. It was a beautifully filmed French film directed by the French 'Hitchcock' Claude Chabrol. The film is available on DVD in French and English versions.

Good find! It was June 1957, the 7th Berlinale. A recent article in the Berliner Morgenpost has more, but you have to pay to get the whole article, and the ability to read German wouldn't hurt:

Thanks, Inga!

Thanks for posting that photo, Tina.
Mr. Flynn once stated that he'd “done everything twice”.
I'm starting to think he's been every place twice!

Hi Aresia;
I found this picture a long time ago I think when I was researching the Bambi Award Errol received in 1951 for best foreign actor!
I am pretty sure the Bambi is equal to the Oscar or is it The Bear Award, I am not sure, but I think it is the Bambi.
I meant to put it on the EFBlog, but I forgot about it. This reminds me now to put it on the Blog with a few other things too. Maybe you have some info about the Bambi, I was not lucky with it, but this was more than a year ago!
Take care!
